Student Testimonials

At Robina State High School we are very proud of our high achievers. We nurture our all our students and support them in seeking a wide range of opportunities, whether they be in the classroom, on the stage, or in the broader community.

Robina has given me so many opportunities to express myself, such as being able to fundraise through the Leo club , while making friends. I loved it when I had the chance to live my dream of being a research scientist through the CSIRO Student Research Scheme. Robina has also introduced me to the challenging yet fun Tournament of Minds, giving me the confidence to be able to speak in public. The highlight of this year was when I was chosen to be the guest speaker at International Women's Day Forum.

When you move to a new country, it can be both exiting and terrifying. The intimidation of strangers and a new culture is enough to overpower your sense of courage. Robina State High school has been one of the most accepting environments I could ask to be part of. Without the support and influence of such a place, I would never have had the courage to go for the opportunities that were placed before me. Through the Music Department I have made many new friends that have enriched my life. Winning Robina Idol and Talent Quest have been highlights to a great year. I'm just glad that I am given the opportunity to express myself in the best way I know how.

I was very proud to be the 2004 recipient of the John Franklin Memorial Scholarship. John Franklin was an active community member and participated in many community organisations. Unfortunately he died in a tree felling accident. This was a major loss to the community. In his memory, his wife, Merna, set up the John Franklin Memorial Fellowship Trust to help young community members pursue their cultural, sporting and academic goals.

I was really honoured to be awarded this fellowship trust and I find it would really help me achieve my career goals. I plan to go to university and study environmental, coastal or civil engineering. I feel I received this award for always striving to do my best, whether this is as a member of the Rural Fire Brigade, being part of the Guest Program at Griffith University, being a member the school's environmental committee and for being diligent in my studies.
